Volunteer Mentors Needed for CERF 2013

Make a lasting impact at CERF 2013 by volunteering to be a mentor. We are looking for a diverse group of volunteers who are willing to help usher in the next generation of coastal and estuarine scientists, managers and educators. Professionals from all stages of traditional or non-traditional career paths are encouraged to sign up for the following mentoring opportunities:

  • CERF 2013 Student & Recent Graduate Career Networking Dinner
Join us for a free informal pizza dinner on Monday, November 4 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm to share your experiences, and help advise students on career opportunities.

  • CERF 2013 Mentoring Program
This program is for "novice" meeting attendees, whether they are students, recent graduates, or just attendees who are new to CERF. We hope to match these attendees one-on-one with a “seasoned” professional who can help them make the most of their first CERF conference. Mentors should be available to (1) connect with their mentee at least one week before the conference, (2) discuss the objectives and purpose of the conference with their mentee, (3) meet in person with their mentee at one of the scheduled social events, and (4) meet again later in the week to discuss any questions and reflect on the conference experience. Mentors should also plan to introduce their mentee to at least five colleagues during the meeting.

Whether it is just for an evening function or for the duration of the conference, we encourage you to adopt the CERF tradition of volunteerism and commitment to education. Who knows, you may end up meeting a future collaborator in the process!

If you are interested in participating in either of the mentoring opportunities, please email by September 20. Please include the following information in your message:
