This joint meeting is an international gathering of more than 4,000 attendees and is being sponsored by The Oceanography Society, the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography and the American Geophysical Union.

Abstract Book

A preliminary version of the book of abstracts (534 pages, 7.3mb PDF) is available for download. A final version with a full author index will become available for download at the conclusion of the meeting. There will not be a printed abstract book.

The on-line abstract search is always available and features author name and full-text search capabilities.

Meeting Program Book, Daily Newspapers and Addenda

The meeting program book, which will be available at conference registration, is now available for download. In addition to the program book, daily newspapers which summarize each day’s scientific program will be available on tables near the entrance to the exhibit hall. Changes to the scientific program will be published on an addendum that will be posted on message boards in that same location.

Daily Schedules Posted

The daily schedules for the 2012 Ocean Sciences Meeting is posted on the meeting Web site (see Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, or use the menu at left). This link will allow you to see events scheduled each day as well as the presentation schedules. Please note that several sessions extend over more than one day. Please refresh your browser if the links for all days do not immediately appear on the drop-down list.

Abstract Submission Closed

Abstract submission is closed. Thank you to all who submitted. The conference abstracts are now being sorted and scheduled. Authors will be notified din December of their place in the scientific program.

Please note that travel grant and supplemental meeting application are also closed.

Abstract Submission/Registration

Registering for the meeting and paying the abstract fee are requirements for abstract submission. To register and then submit your abstract, please read registration, abstract overview and abstract specifications before proceeding to registration. If you prefer to register and/or submit your abstract via mail, please download the meeting forms package.

10-Author Limit

The scientific committee for this meeting is only accepting 10 authors for each abstract submitted.  Additional authors should be shown at the beginning of your presentation on a slide or on your poster, depending upon the type of presentation assignment you receive.

Submission of Second Abstracts

There are ONLY two cases in which submission of a second abstract is permitted:

  1. Any presenting author who has submitted an abstract to a scientific session may submit a SECOND abstract to one of the designated education and policy sessions. A second registration fee and abstract submission fee are not required for the second abstract submission to an education and policy session.  These sessions are listed under categories 10 and 11. This second submission may be a poster instead of another oral presentation.
  2. Session overview presenters who have been so designated by their session organizer may submit two abstracts.  The overview presenter must submit an abstract for the session in which they are giving the overview talk, and they may submit a SECOND abstract to another scientific session or an education or policy session. This second submission may be a poster instead of another oral presentation. A second registration fee and abstract submission fee are not required for the second abstract submission.

7 October Abstract Submission Deadline

All abstracts, including those submitted by designated overview presenters, must be submitted by the submission deadline which is 23:59 pm Central Daylight Time on 7 October 2011 (04:59 Greenwich Mean Time on 8 October 2011). Paid registration is required for all on-line abstract submittals and must be accompanied by credit card payment. Those who submit abstracts online must be prepared to register and submit at the same time. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Supplemental Meetings Application Available

The application for supplemental meetings, workshops, town halls, field trips and other special events is now available.

The deadline for meeting/event/activity requests is 7 October 2011.

Call for Papers

TOS, AGU and ASLO invite the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentation. You must submit before the abstract deadline of 23:59 pm Central Daylight Time on 7 October 2011 (04:59 Greenwich Mean Time on 8 October 2011) in order for your abstract to be considered. Registration and payment of all fees are due at the time of abstract submission and are payable in U.S. Dollars. Join or renew membership in one or more societies to take advantage of the discounted registration rate for participating society members.
