Special Activities
La Jolla boasts southern California's most beautiful and
majestic coastline and the finest weather in the world.
It really does have something for everyone. While you could
easily spend hours just admiring the sheer beauty of La
Jolla, there are many other attractions and activities that
will both entertain and educate.
The following activities are planned and organized by the
Birch Aquarium at Scripps. If you would like to participate,
please contact Shelley Glenn Lee by phone at (858) 822-3147
or by e-mail at sglenn@ucsd.edu.

Times: Cruise departs at 10:15 a.m.

Youth (4-12 with paid adult): $15 per person
Scripps naturalists and assistants will be on each cruise
to search for gray whales as they migrate past the La Jolla
shores on their way to the lagoons of Baja California, Mexico,
to breed and give birth. Scripps naturalists will share
gray whale artifacts and specimens and a take-home information
packet on the gray whale. Each whale watcher will also receive
a "Whale-of-a-savings" coupon with tempting discounts
to Anthony's Fish Grotto, San Diego Maritime Museum, Seaport
Village, San Diego Harbor Excursion, and the Birch Aquarium.
A minimum of 20 people is required for this tour.

Lobsters, eels, and octopus have been spotted on past excursions,
in addition to other fascinating tidepool fauna and flora.
This activity must have a minimum of 10 people and no more
than 30.

observe sea conditions, and explore the nocturnal habits
of marine life. This activity must have a minimum of 15
people and no more than 40.
