The Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting
The inaugural Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting (JASM) to be held in Portland, Oregon, 18-23 May 2014 at the Oregon Convention Center
“Bridging Genes to Ecosystems: Aquatic Science at a Time of Rapid Change” is the theme for this historic joint meeting of four of the leading aquatic scientific societies: Society for Freshwater Science (SFS), Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), Phycological Society of America (PSA), and Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS). For one week in May of 2014, these four societies will build a bridge across the disciplines within the field of aquatic science and will explore many exciting opportunities for collaboration among scientists. We are anticipating an attendance of over 3500 attendees.
Abstracts of papers presented during the meeting will soon be available on the meeting website. Abstracts will also be archived following the meeting. An abstract book will not be published.
The importance of water to the city of Portland is evident by its nickname the “City of Bridges.” This, along with the fact that Portland was recently awarded the title of the “Greenest City in America,” makes it the perfect venue for aquatic scientists, engineers, students, educators, policy makers, and other stake holders to gather and share their expertise. Many diverse sessions are being planned to span the theme of this meeting.
